The shrine of Imam Reza
The shrine of Imam Reza (a.s.) in the center of Mashhad city, Razavi Khorasan province, Iran, is the shrine of Hazrat Ali bin Musa al-Reza (a.s.), which is revered and sacred by Shia and Sunni Muslims. This place includes mosques, tombs, porticoes, courtyards, libraries and museums. The structures of this holy shrine have been left from the era before the Safavids, the Timurid era and many historical times, but during the time of Shah Tahmasab Safavi, a lot of activity was done to expand the shrine, therefore this holy place is a vast museum of Iranian architecture. From the Timurid period, at the same time as many old buildings of Khorasan were renovated in Tus, Herat and Neishabur, special attention was paid to this place. Many of the buildings of this shrine have been left from the Safavid period, especially during the time of Shah Tahmasab. During these renovations, the size of the shrine has increased from 12,000 square meters in the past to its current area of about one million square meters, which has made it one of the largest religious places in the world.
Abbasqoli Khan School
Abbasqoli Khan Shamlu Theological Seminary was built by Abbasqoli Khan Biglarbeigi by the order of Shah Suleiman Safavi in 1045 AH. This school, which has been registered in the list of national monuments of Iran, is located at the beginning of Safavi street. This school is now used as a seminary. The school building is built on two floors and has four porches on four sides in the architectural style of the Safavid period, which houses more than 100 rooms.
This school is made of bricks and has decorations such as tiling and moqrans work at the entrance of porches and rooms and porches. This school is considered among the architectural works of Mashhad, which is under the supervision of Khorasan Cultural Heritage Organization.
